The public/private partnership of the Taos Business Alliance (TBA) proposed to create, develop and implement a long-term sustainable economic development strategy.
The team's purpose was to focus on the development of small, sustainable and environmental friendly.
Their plan included establishing an asset inventory of regional economic development resources to be placed in a searchable database. Also, they planned to develop a web site and publish the asset inventory database both in electronic and printed media.
Partnerships
The MIRA project is complete and the team has accomplished all of its original goals. The TBA is now a collaboration of the MIRA team and Taos Business Alliance, which is a non-profit community service organization. Work is expanding to include forming the Taos Training Alliance, a collaboration of all the training agencies in Taos.
Leadership
The original MIRA team is no longer meeting, but the TBA is an ongoing entity with the help of John Otis' leadership as the Executive Director of Taos Business Alliance.
In a democratic style, Mr. Otis directs the program with input and interaction from staff and community members. His leadership style ensures that everyone has an opportunity to be heard and that duties are delegated so that the project is done.
