YOUTH ACCESSING COMMUNICATIONS

Youth Accessing Communications (YAC) is led by a University of Wisconsin extension agent, Cindy LaPorte, and is identified with the 4-H program. With their MIRA funds, the team discussed and approved conducting a computer camp.

In June 2000, a workshop was held where teenage computer camp graduates planned and presented classes on web page skills for their school peers.

The YAC team, with five adults and five teenagers from the original MIRA group, is ongoing thanks to the cooperation of the Weyerhaeuser School District where YAC's server is housed.

YAC is currently writing web pages and working on a web site to create and sustain interest among the community teenagers.
