Developing a Communications
Plan

a roadmap to success

How this Web site is Organized

This web site has been developed, based on a Hudson River Watershed Council's publication, to provide the reader with a roadmap for developing a communications plan. This particular project was undertaken by the Huron River Watershed Council with the idea that two end products would result from the process: 1) The HRWC would have a working communications plan for the organization which could be implemented, and 2) The HRWC would be able to provide others with information on how to create a communications plan for themselves.

You will notice that under each section on the navagation bar are two divisions, Process and HRWC. For each section of this website, there is a Process division, which explains the methodology for developing a communications plan of your own. Also for each section, there is a HRWC division, which explains the process the HRWC went through within their own organization to accomplish each step.

You'll learn valuable processes, such as prioritization exercises and feasibility screens, as well as how to manage the challenges of building an effective consumer education plan from the ground up. Plus, you'll find helpful tips that may save you time and effort in the lessons learned by the HRWC as they developed their plan.
