Potter lays out a ten-step strategic communication plan that aligns communication with business strategies and achieves measurable results. It contains simple, practical, easy-to-follow information that you can put to use immediately.

The Huron River Watershed Council documented their efforts to develop a communications plan, which is reprinted here with permission from the HRWC and the EPA.

A strategic communications plan is a written document you develop that lists your organization's specific goals and objectives. It requires a concerted effort among your staff, board members and others to think strategically about where you want your organization to go and the communications activities (radio ads, billboards, public service announcements, etc.) you will undertake to achieve success. Just as
your organization's overall strategic plan is a critical component in your organization's functioning, so is your communications plan. A plan is essential and ensures that your communications activities have the greatest potential for success. View Communications Template
